WELCOME Fr John Chandler

Hello to you all!

Finally, I have arrived here in Bordon and Grayshott…. It seems to have been such a long time since the ‘Clergy Moves’ were announced.

I am really excited to be here and I’m looking forward to meting you all and (eventually!)  remembering your name!

For the past four years I was Parish Priest in Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent (The Catholic Parish of Our Lady and St John) and I am still very sad to have left the parish and all the people I got to know and love there. It is very hard to pack-up and move on, even though we know that that is the life of the priest.

I have also been in the Catholic Parishes in (working backwards) Winchester, Southampton, Leigh Park and Jersey so this is my sixth parish.

As well as my parish responsibilities I am the Bishop’s Master of Ceremonies, which sounds grand but it simply means that I plan his liturgies and accompany him when he is out-and-about.

I also have responsibility for the Liturgy in the Diocese and for the training of all those involved in the Liturgy (such as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Readers etc).

Although this keeps me busy, it very rarely interferes with the parish….. Having said that!….. Unfortunately, due to commitments made long before I knew I was moving parish, there will be no Mass this Friday morning (21st) or on Thursday evenings until Christmas.

I have to also come clean and say that there will be no weekday Masses Mon 24th—Fri 28th, but the Weekend Masses will not be affected.

As from October we’ll be full-steam ahead!

Please pray for me and be patient with me in the weeks ahead!

God bless you, Father John
