Safeguarding Responsibilities

Together with Parish Priest and the Pastoral Council, all of us at the parish who have contact with children or other vulnerable persons need to help ensure their welfare and security.

The Parish Safeguarding Representative has a responsibility for

  • Overseeing the application, appointment and training of parish volunteers who will be working with children and vulnerable persons, in accordance with national and diocesan procedures and including DBS(Disclosure & Barring Service)/CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) certification.

  • Checking the arrangements and management of classes for Children’s Liturgy, Preparation for the Sacraments and specific events for children which may be organised by the parish from time to time.

  • Providing advice for anyone seeking help on how to proceed regarding any matter of concern which may arise in the parish to do with the safeguarding of a child or other vulnerable person.
